Sir,
I have just returned from a very long journey through the lands populated by the natives of America. It's a story that began with meeting a surgeon, Henry W, who worked for a filibuster. This man was not only a scholar in medicine, he was above all a polyglot, passionate about the Indian peoples with whom he had stayed.
I followed this man from the Caribbean to the land of Caroline. There, I discovered with him the habits of different tribes. I then decided to continue this trip alone, crossing the whole continent. I ended up making a surprising discovery.
Sir, I think I have discovered an extinct people, far removed from anything familiar in this New World. To understand my discovery, I ask for your help. I've heard about your knowledge and your quickness of mind. Solve this riddle and I'll share my findings with you.
Peter Smith.
