The house of Gaoulé

Dear friend, Another story of French governor. The colonists of a French island did not appreciate the visit of their governor, who came to forbid them to trade abroad. In protest, a certain Dubuc-l'Etang led to a form of protest which is called "Gaoulé" there. The settlers captured the governor and the intendant no more no less, took them prisoner, and then sent them back to France on a boat. What boldness! I have received documents from a friend showing that a forban slipped into the settlers' revolt to steal valuables from the governor. The latter was an artillery lover. He had brought with him a few collector's items to impress the gallery. He left without, and no one has ever found them. This is where you come in. Ben Gunn.
